The Conferences and Meetings Committee of IAPR evalutes applications for Sponsorship or Endorsement of meetings to determine if they are in compliance with IAPR standards. Sponsorship or Endorsement will be granted to applicants who demonstrate that there is a strong likelihood that the meeting will have an international scope and significant contribution to topics central to the study of pattern recognition and its applications. Sponsorship is a higher level of support, and specific distinctions between the two levels of IAPR support are shown in the table below.

IAPR Sponsored and Endorsed Events

Avoiding Scheduling Conflicts Among Related Meetings

While IAPR supports a wide range of conferences in the general area of pattern recognition and related topics, we discourage conferences with similar themes from competing for the limited travel resources available to members of the international research community.

IAPR conferences (sponsored or endorsed) should not be scheduled within a few months of other IAPR or independent conferences where there is a significant overlap in topics.

IAPR leaders, including TC leaders and Standing Committee leaders who have roles in conferences outside the sphere of IAPR, should encourage the timing and location of those events so that they do not conflict with major IAPR conferences.

IAPR Co-Sponsored Events

Beyond the procedures and guidelines indicated above, IAPR has established additional policies that must be adhered to when applicants are requesting Co-Sponsorship with another professional society. Please refer to this document for details, and note that a copy of this statement must be included when applying for sponsorship from the other professional society.

Guidance on Hybrid Conferences
