Advisory Committee

The Advisory Committee (AC) consists of people with long experience of the operation of the IAPR (e.g. past Presidents and long-term standing committee chairs and Secretariat staff). It has a Chair and Vice-Chair (consistent with other Standing Committees). The current President is the ExCo Liaison.

There is no specific set of activities for the AC. The Constitution (Sec. 8.1) formalizes the AC and the Bylaws (Sec. 14.12) outlines the membership and general responsibility:

"The Advisory Committee shall provide assistance and guidance to the Executive Committee on topics relevant to IAPR. Its members will have long ranging experience with IAPR activities."

In practice, its main role is as a sounding board for the current IAPR Executive Committee. Examples of topics that might be raised are: potential constitutional changes, new association activities, ethical issues and changes, national society membership policy, requests coming from the ExCo/IAPR president to consider the consequences of planned actions/decisions, and observations and questions raised by the AC (or any other party) relating to general issues of IAPR.
