50th Anniversary Book Project

To honor its 50th Anniversary, IAPR has contracted with Springer to publish a book about the history of IAPR and the parallel development of fields within the broader classification of “Pattern Recognition”, fields like Biometrics, Artificial Intelligence, and Computer Vision. The book will consist of two parts: 1) the IAPR’s history and its role in the development of Pattern Recognition and AI around the world. 2) About 10 chapters on the state of the art of different subfields of Pattern Recognition, such as those mentioned above plus topics like: statistical pattern recognition, syntactic pattern recognition, computational forensics, text and graphics recognition, discrete geometry and mathematical morphology, cultural heritage applications, etc. The first part is written by a professional science communicator (hence the request for donations). The technical overview chapters are written by domain experts (for free).
