Henrik I. Christensen - USA
Henrik I Christensen is the Qualcomm Chancellors Chair of Robot Systems. He is a a professor of Computer Science and Engineering at UC San Diego. Dr. Christensen received his education in Denmark. He does research on computer and robot perception with an emphasis on a systems view to problems from theory to realization. He has published 400 contributions across computer vision, artificial intelligence, and robotics. Henrik has also co-founded six companies and serves as a consultant to agencies and companies across four continents
Michael Jenkin - Canada
Michael Jenkin is a Professor of Computer Science and Engineering, and a member of the Centre for Vision Research and IC@L at York University, Canada. Working in the fields of visually guided autonomous robots and virtual reality, he has published over 200 research papers including co-authoring Computational Principles of Mobile Robotics with Gregory Dudek and a series of co-edited books on human and machine vision with Laurence Harris. Michael has worked on a range of different intelligent systems including autonomous systems for survey tasks in nuclear power plants, crime scene investigation and scene remediation, and underwater and surface robot systems for environment monitoring. His current research interests include work on sensing and interaction strategies for intelligent autonomous machines, the application of VR to physical therapies, and the understanding of the perception of self-motion and orientation in unusual environments including short- and long-duration microgravity.
Cheng-Lin Liu - China
Cheng-Lin Liu is a Professor at the National Laboratory of Pattern Recognition, Institute of Automation of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and now the Director of the Laboratory. He received the PhD degree in pattern recognition and intelligent control from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China, in 1995. His research interests include pattern recognition, image processing, neural networks, machine learning, and especially the applications to document analysis and recognition. He has published over 300 technical papers at journals and conferences. He is a fellow of the CAA, CAAI, the IAPR and the IEEE.

Gregory Dudek - Canada
Gregory Dudek is Lab Head and VP Research at the Samsung AI Center Montreal. He is also a Professor at McGill University’s School of Computer Science and James McGill Chair holder, a member of the McGill Research Centre for Intelligent Machines (CIM) and an Associate member of the Dept. of Electrical Engineering. From 2008 – 2016 he was the Director of the McGill School of Computer Science. He is the former Scientific Director of the NSERC Canadian Field Robotics Network (NCFRN) and is the current director of its successor the NSERC Canadian Robotics Network (NCRN). He is also the former Director of McGill’s Research Center for Intelligent Machines, a 30-year-old inter-faculty research facility.
In 2010 he was awarded the Fessenden Professorship in Science Innovation. In 2010, he was also awarded the Canadian Image Processing and Pattern Recognition Award for Research Excellence and also for Service to the Research Community. In 2019 he was the General Chair of the International Conference on Robotics and Automation, ICRA 2019.
He is co-author of over 300 refereed scientific publications.
He holds a PhD from the University of Toronto, an MSc in Computer Science (operating systems) also from the University of Toronto, and a BSc in Physics and Computer Science from Queen’s University.
Zhouchen Lin - China
Zhouchen Lin is a professor with the Key Lab. of Machine Perception, School of Electronics Engineering and Computer Science, Peking University. His research areas include machine learning, numerical optimization, computer vision, and image processing. He has published more than 230 peer-reviewed papers on top journals and conferences, and two books. His Google Scholar citation number is over 21,000. He has been area chairs of CVPR, ICCV, NIPS/NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, AAAI, and IJCAI for many times. He was an associate editor for the IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence and is currently an associate editor of the International Journal of Computer Vision. He is a fellow of IEEE and IAPR.
Simone Marinai - Italy
Simone Marinai received the Master Degree in Electronic Engineering in 1992 and the PhD Degree in Computer Engineering in 1996 both from the University of Florence, Italy. In 1996 he has been visiting researcher at CENPARMI, Concordia University, Montréal. Currently he is Associate Professor of Computer Engineering at the Information Engineering department of the University of Florence. He is also visiting researcher of Osaka Prefecture University (Japan) in the Institute of Document Analysis and Knowledge Science.
His main research interests are in Artificial Intelligence and Pattern Recognition with a special focus on applications in Document Engineering and Document Image Analysis.
Prof. Marinai is co-editor in chief of the International Journal on Document Analysis and Recognition (IJDAR) and of the Electronic Letters on Computer Vision and Image Analysis (ELCVIA) journal; has been Past-president of IAPR (2018-20) President of IAPR (2016-18), 2nd vice-president of IAPR (2014-16) and Chair of the Conferences and Meetings (C&M) committee of IAPR (2008-2014); Chair of the IAPR Technical Committee on Neural Networks and Computational Intelligence (TC3) (2004-2008); He is co-editor of the book “Machine Learning in Document Analysis and Recognition” published by Springer Verlag in 2008.
He is author of more than 80 peer-reviewed publications and editor of four volumes.
Ingela Nyström - Sweden
Professor Ingela Nyström’s research interest is interactive segmentation, visualization, digital geometry, and quantitative shape analysis of volume images with their medical applications. The career has developed from her background with a PhD degree in computerised image analysis from Uppsala University, Sweden, in 1997.
She has held a number of leadership positions, for example, as the Director of the Centre for Image Analysis since 2012. During 2006-2011, she was the Director of the Uppsala University high-performance computer centre SNIC-UPPMAX. In addition, she has served on a number of committees and organisations – at the University, nationally, and internationally. Early in her career in 2000, she was elected board member (President 2002-2006) of the IAPR member Swedish Society for Automated Image Analysis (SSBA) and continued to serve in the board until 2012. She was an IAPR Governing Board member during 2002-2010. During later ten years, she served as member of the IAPR Executive Committee (2nd Vice-President 2008-2010, Secretary 2010-2014, President 2014-2016, Past President 2016-2018). Currently, she is the Chair of the Board of the Swedish National Infrastructure for Computing (SNIC) as well as member of the Board of Directors of the Norwegian UNINETT Sigma2.
Nyström has served in different roles in ICPR since the Cambridge edition in 2004. Her major involvement was when she served as Local Arrangements Chair for ICPR 2014 in Stockholm with 1200 participants. Other IAPR conference series where she has been very active during the years are SCIA and DGCI.
