Local Information

Montréal is a vibrant, charismatic, and welcoming city. A striking union of European charm and North American attitude, Montréal seduces visitors with a harmonious pairing of the historic and the new, from exquisite architecture to fine dining. The world’s second largest francophone city after Paris, it merits the moniker ‘international’ city, a cosmopolitan center with proud roots in the past that enthusiastically embraces the future. A world leader in such industries as aeronautics, information technology and biotechnology, the city has also made significant innovations in medicine, multimedia, the arts, and urban planning. Its avant-garde spirit has not gone unnoticed: in 2006, Montréal was named a UNESCO City of Design. Day and night, Montréal pulses with activity. Each season, it is host to an array of events, exhibitions, and gatherings for the thousands of culture, nature and thrill seekers who come here to enjoy its diverse offerings. While Montréal’s masterful chefs continue to elevate its reputation as a gourmet destination, creative artists and artisans draw admirers in droves to the haute couture ateliers, arts galleries and charming boutiques that line the city streets.

Palais des congrès de Montréal

Day after day, for over 35 years, the Palais has been hosting engaging events that stimulate the senses and challenge our minds. A true epicenter where people gather and share, it has an irresistible power of attraction.

Accessible to all and by any means of transportation, surrounded by renowned restaurants and the most vibrant city life Montréal has to offer, the Palais throws its doors open wide for both virtual and in-person events.

The best ways to get around Montreal are on foot or by public transportation. Montreal is a very walkable city, but if your feet do grow weary, the Montreal Metro and bus are both cost-efficient and easy to use. There is also a public shuttle bus (No. 747) that runs between downtown and the Montréal–Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport (YUL) 24/7. There are two routes – one drops visitors off downtown, making 11 stops along the way. The other is a straight shot to the Lionel-Groulx station, where you can hop on a metro train to your desired destination. Rides cost CA$10 (roughly $7.50) per person. You can also take a cab from the airport to downtown, which will cost CA$41 (around $31).

Montréal’s diversity of recreational activities is all about choice: stay active or simply sit back and relax. Rest assured that everything has been thought of to ensure your safety.
