Traveling information

Lausanne has no commercial airport but is easily accessible by direct trains from the two main international airports in Switzerland:

  • From Geneva Airport (GVA), 6 trains per hour, approx. 50’ ride, price : 27 CHF
  • From Zurich Flughafen (ZHR), 2 direct trains per hour, approx. 2h30 ride, price : 78 CHF

Lausanne can also be reached by train from Paris (approx. 4 hours) or Milano (approx. 4 hours), but due to Covid travelling restrictions note that some connections may be suspended.

Venues

The workshops (Sept 5-8) will be held on the campus EPFL (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology), which is located in the south-west part of the city. The campus is easily reachable by train (Metro M1) from the city center within 16’. The fare is included in the free public transportation you will receive from the hotels.

The main conference will be held at Beaulieu Lausanne Convention Center, which is ideally situated in the heart of Lausanne. It is a vast events complex located at the heart of French-speaking Switzerland and offering a rich array of services. It is in walking distance from the center and easily accessible by public transportation (Bus #2,21). Its 19 modular rooms and its large halls associated with the largest theater in Switzerland can accommodate up to 5,400 persons, who also enjoy the use of 12,000 square meter of gardens.

Reception and Gala dinner

The reception and gala dinner will take place on Wednesday September 8 at the Musée Olympique (Olympic Museum). Since 1893, Lausanne hosts the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and for its hundred’s anniversary the IOC founded its unique official museum on the banks of Lake Geneva. On three floors, the exhibition presents the origin of the games, the competitions and the athletic spirit through over 150 screens and 1500 objects: The Olympic torches and medals of all The Olympic games, as well as the equipment of the most famous athletes. With its temporary exhibitions, grounds decorated with works of art and a panoramic restaurant with a view over Lake Geneva and the Alps, this is a must-see attraction in Lausanne.
