S+SSPR 2026 is a joint event organized by Technical Committee 1 (Statistical Pattern Recognition Technique) and Technical Committee 2 (Structural and Syntactical Pattern Recognition) of the International Association of Pattern Recognition (https://iapr.org/). The 21st edition of S+SSPR will be hosted by the University of Bern, Switzerland.

Proximity

Following the trend of previous editions, S+SSPR 2026 will be held in close proximity and shortly after the International Conference on Pattern Recognition (https://icpr2026.org/).

Accepted Papers

Accepted papers (not exceeding 10 pages) will be published in Springer’s Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) series, providing that at least one author will register to the workshop and present the paper.

All accepted papers require one Early Bird registration from at least one author of the paper. Please mention your paper number when registering. Each registration can cover a maximum of three papers.

Traveling to Bern

In Switzerland, the three main airports are in Zurich, Geneva and Basel. Bern is very easy to reach by train from all three airports (about an hour from Zurich and Basel and about two hours from Geneva). You can find connections and exact ticket prices at https://sbb.ch (a one-way ticket costs between CHF 40 and 60).

If you want to travel directly from the ICPR in Lyon to the S+SSPR in Bern, we recommend taking the train (travel time is just over 4 hours and you only have to change trains in Geneva - check https://sbb.ch).

Location

S+SSPR will take place in the "Haus der Universität Bern" (seminar room in the basement) The "Haus der Universität Bern" is a representative new baroque villa, which originally contained a classical country house from the first half of the 19th century. The building was constructed probably in 1828 under the direction of Gabriel Friedrich von Frisching, once president of the Bernese city council. In 1909, his descendants sold it to the Bernese surgeon and Nobel Prize winner Theodor Kocher.

From 1915, the villa was used as an embassy building and in 1941, after his death, Theodor Kocher's son Johann Albert Kocher donated the villa to the Burgergemeinde of Bern. The building, also known as the Kocher Villa, was converted and renovated in 1986/87 with the help of the Burgergemeinde's university foundation, with the aim of making it available to the university for teaching and research. To this day, the "Haus der Universität Bern" foundation ensures that the villa is used as a representative center for university encounters and as a place for discussion across departmental and faculty boundaries.

Submission and Camera-Ready

All manuscripts (max 10 pages, including all references) must be following Springer’s LNCS style (Latex or Word). All papers are submitted via EasyChair in pdf format, and will be reviewed at least two or more anonymous reviewers. Accepted papers will be published in Springer’s LNCS series, providing that at least one author will register to the workshop and present the paper.

Camera-ready versions of the accepted papers are due on July 15, 2026. This is a strict deadline. The papers should be in LNCS format and should abide to the strict page limit of 10 pages, including references. Do not abuse the LNCS format by modifying the page size parameters, line spacing or font size. Ensure that the figures and their labelling are clear and readable. Ideally, figures should be created so as to minimise the amount of information lost when rendered in black and white. Please note that these are strict constraints: papers longer than the limit or not conforming to the LNCS format will not be included in the proceedings. Please familiarise yourself with the LNCS author guidelines. When preparing your camera-ready paper for the proceedings, please take the reviewers comments into consideration.

A zipped file containing all your LaTeX sources OR a Word file in the RTF format (use the LaTeX or Microsoft Word templates)
A PDF version of your camera-ready paper
