{"id":513,"date":"2022-12-17T08:57:59","date_gmt":"2022-12-17T08:57:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ijcb2023.iapr-tc4.org\/?page_id=513"},"modified":"2025-06-20T00:18:38","modified_gmt":"2025-06-20T00:18:38","slug":"call-for-competiton-proposals","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/ijcb2025.ieee-biometrics.org\/call-for-competiton-proposals\/","title":{"rendered":"Call for Competition Proposals"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>We invite competition proposals for the 2025 International Joint Conference on Biometrics (IJCB 2025) in Osaka, Japan (<a href=\"https:\/\/ijcb2025.ieee-biometrics.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/696\/2025\/02\/CFChallenges_IJCB2025.pdf\"><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">PDF<\/span><\/strong><\/mark><\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The main goal of the competitions is to provide a common ground for benchmarking of state-of-the art algorithms, to consolidate research and identify open problems in biometrics-related research areas. We solicit competition proposals on any topic of interest to the broader biometric community and strongly encourage proposals focusing on new emerging fields and open research questions that can attract a significant number of participants. Competition organizers having a strong track record in the field are especially welcome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From the proposals received, the strongest will be selected to be held with IJCB 2025 and to submit summary papers to the conference. The selection process will be based on the novelty of the proposed competition, the relevance and timeliness of the problem explored, the importance of the research questions investigated, the potential to attract a high number of competitors, the impact of the competition, and the track record of the organizers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The deadline for submitting competition proposals is February 28th, 2025. Decisions will be made by March 3rd, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Competition Proposal Submission<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Competition proposals should be sent to the IJCB 2025 CHALLENGE&amp;DEMO co-chairs, Naser Damer (<a href=\"&#109;&#x61;&#105;&#x6c;&#116;&#x6f;&#58;&#x6e;&#97;&#x73;&#101;&#x72;&#46;&#x64;a&#x6d;e&#x72;&#64;&#x69;g&#x64;&#46;&#102;&#x72;&#97;&#x75;&#110;&#x68;&#111;&#x66;&#101;&#x72;&#46;&#x64;&#101;\">n&#97;&#x73;&#x65;&#x72;&#46;&#100;&#97;&#x6d;&#x65;r&#64;&#105;&#x67;&#x64;&#46;f&#114;&#x61;&#x75;&#x6e;h&#111;&#x66;&#x65;&#x72;&#46;&#100;&#101;<\/a>) and Ana Filipa Sequeira (<a href=\"&#109;&#x61;&#x69;l&#116;&#x6f;:&#97;&#x6e;&#x61;&#46;&#x66;&#x2e;s&#101;&#x71;u&#101;&#x69;&#x72;&#97;&#x40;&#x69;n&#101;&#x73;c&#116;&#x65;&#x63;&#46;&#x70;&#x74;\">&#x61;&#x6e;&#97;&#46;&#x66;&#x2e;&#x73;&#101;q&#x75;&#x65;&#x69;&#114;a&#x40;&#x69;&#x6e;&#101;s&#x63;&#x74;&#x65;&#99;&#46;&#x70;&#x74;<\/a>), with the email subject \u00bbIJCB 2025 Competition Proposal: [title of your competition]\u00ab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The proposal should include the following information to facilitate the decision process:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Title of the competition.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Names, affiliations, contact information, and a brief CV of the competition organizers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A list of three most relevant publications related to the competition for each organizer.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Justification:<ul><li>Motivation for the competition, expected outcomes and anticipated impact,<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Relevance to IJCB 2025,<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Relationship to previous competitions, if any,<\/li><\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Description of the novelty of the competition.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Execution:<ul><li>Description of the dataset(s) used for the competition and the available annotations,<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Details on the experimental protocol and result generation\/submission procedure,<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Information on the platform used (for data sharing, submission, verification of the results), if any,<\/li><\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Description of the evaluation criteria (performance metrics) and available baseline implementations\/code (e.g., a starter kit).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Organization:<ul><li>Expected minimum number of external participants (other than the organizers),<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Plan for promoting the competition and attracting participants,<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Description of the planned coordination activities,<\/li><\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A detailed timeline for the competition.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Other relevant information.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Schedule<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The competitions should preferably start by the beginning of March 2025 and be completed by the summary-paper submission deadline on June 23rd, 2025. Competition organizers will also be requested to prepare a web page for the competition, which will be linked to the conference web site. The website should be online at least on the starting day of the competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Proceedings and Presentation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Competition organizers will be invited to submit a summary paper discussing organization, datasets, and results by June 23rd, 2025. The summary papers will be considered for inclusion in the IJCB 2025 conference program and should follow the same formatting and presentation rules as regular papers. The submissions will undergo the same review process as regular papers. The presentation format (if accepted) will be determined based on the quality of the submission and reviewer feedback received.
