    About IJCB 2021

The 2021 International Joint Conference on Biometrics (IJCB 2021) combines two major biometrics conferences, the IEEE Biometrics Theory, Applications, and Systems (BTAS) conference and the International Conference on Biometrics (ICB). The blending of these two conferences in 2021 is made through a special agreement between the IEEE Biometrics Council and the IAPR TC-4.

The conference will be organized in a mixed mode. Participants who cannot attend in person can participate online

The conference will have a broad scope and invites papers that advance biometric technologies, sensor design, feature extraction and matching algorithms, security and privacy, and social impact of biometrics technology. Topics of interest include all areas of current Biometrics research and applications.

    Call for Contributions

IJCB 2021 solicits contributions on topics including, but not limited to, the following:

    • Face, Iris, Fingerprint, Palmprint
    • Periocular, Ear, Vein, Speech
    • Gait and Gesture
    • Multi-Modal and Multi-Spectral Biometrics
    • Mobile-based Biometrics
    • Template Protection and Cryptosystems
    • Privacy, Demographic Bias, Fairness
    • Template Design, Selection and Update
    • Datasets, Evaluation, Benchmarking
    • Performance Modelling and Prediction
    • Large scale ID Management
    • Anti-spoofing, Presentation Attack Detection
    • Biometric DeepFakes, Digital Data Forensics
    • Law Enforcement and Forensic Applications
    • Biometrics in Healthcare, Banking, IoT
    • Ethical, Social and Legal Issues

    Location

The 2021 International Joint Conference on Biometrics (IJCB 2021) will be held from August 4th to August 7th, 2021 in Shenzhen, China.

Shenzhen, a coastal city in southern China, is located on the east bank of the Pearl River Estuary, separated from Hong Kong by the water. It is China’s financial center, information center, high-tech industrial base, and South China business center and tourist attraction. It is a first-tier city in China, a national economic center city, a national independent innovation city, and a modern international city. We look forward to welcoming you to Shenzhen!

Authors of best-reviewed papers will be invited to submit an extended version of their paper to the IEEE Transactions on Biometrics, Behavior, and Identity Science (IEEE-TBIOM)

Call for Competitions http://ijcb2021.iapr-tc4.org/2021/01/18/call-for-competitions/ Mon, 18 Jan 2021 03:55:47 +0000 http://ijcb2021.iapr-tc4.org/?p=936 We invite competition proposals for the 2021 International Joint Conference on Biometrics (IJCB 2021). The main goal of the competitions is to benchmark state-of-the-art algorithms, to consolidate research and identify open biometrics‐related problems. We solicit competition proposals on any topic of interest to the broader biometric community and strongly encourage proposals focusing on new emerging fields and open research questions that are able to attract a significant number of participants. Competition organizers having a strong track record in the field are especially welcome.

The deadline for submitting competition proposals is February 1, 2021. Decisions will be circulated by February 8, 2021. For details, please refer here.

    Competition Proposal Submission

Competition proposals should be sent to the IJCB 2021 competition co-chairs, Ana F. Sequeira (ana.f.sequeira@inesctec.pt) and Caifeng Shan (Caifeng.Shan@gmail.com), with the email subject “IJCB 2021 Competition Proposal: [title of your competition]”.

The proposal should include the following information to facilitate the decision process:

    • Title of the competition.
    • Names, affiliations, contact information, and a brief CV of the competition organizers.
    • A list of up to three most relevant publications related to the competition for each organizer.
    • Justification:
      • Motivation for the competition, expected outcomes and anticipated impact,
      • Relevance to IJCB 2021,
      • Relationship to previous competitions, if any,
      • Description of the novelty of the competition.
    • Execution:
      • Description of the dataset(s) used for the competition and the available annotations,
      • Details on the experimental protocol and resultgeneration/submission procedure,
      • Information on the platform used (for data sharing, submission, verification of the results), if any,
      • Description of the evaluation criteria (performance metrics) and available baseline implementations/code (e.g., a starter kit).
    • Organization:
      • Expected minimum number of external participants (separate from the organizers),
      • Plan for promoting the competition and attracting participants,
      • Description of the planned coordination activities,
      • A detailed timeline for the competition.
    • Other relevant information.
